Five Awesome Places to Spend the Afternoon in Miami

While the beautiful beaches are the biggest draws for most tourists visiting South Florida, there are many other things to do in Miami that will ensure that there is never a dull moment to your visit. The 'Magic City' has something to offer everyone.

1. Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

If you haven't ever been to the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens, it's definitely worth a look. There are many interesting Japanese artifacts and art pieces and exhibits on display. The gardens are the real crowd-puller though. You can wander through and explore the six diverse gardens which each represent a major period of Japanese garden designing.



2. Zoo Miami

The Miami zoo is home to more than 1,300 species of plants and 2,000 animals. It is 740-acres in area with a variety of exotic animals and birds from Africa, Asia, and Australia. The zoo always ranks among the top ten best zoos in America. Every animal is housed in an enclosure that mimics its natural habitat. This serves as a great learning experience for children. Another great part for animal lovers is that the zoo is completely cage-free. If you are a family of four, try renting a four-seat bicycle to get around. It's so much fun!

3. Everglades Holiday Park

If you'd like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, head to the wetland wilderness paradise of the Everglades Holiday Park. You can spend the afternoon on one of the famous airboat rides as you glide by a lurking alligator in the swamp. The guides are knowledgeable and informatics and will take you to all the best places to see the wildlife of the place.

4. Oleta River State Park

Oleta River State Park has something for everyone. There is a great beach to take a dip in. If you feel like paddling along the river for a truly unique experience, you can rent a kayak or a canoe too. The most famous thing is the par though, are the off-road bicycle trails which range from challenging trail for experts and novice trails for beginners.



5. Lincoln Road Pedestrian Mall

If you're in South Beach and want a reason to get out of the sun, head to Lincoln Road Pedestrian Mall which is a stone's throw away from SoBe. There are many stores with amazing stuff on sale. The mall is a great place for people watching, shopping, having a meal or just generally chilling out on a lazy afternoon. There's also free Wi-Fi on offer.
